Male beauty regimes have changed hugely over the last few years. Cast your mind back twenty years and you wouldn’t have caught many men admitting to facials and eyebrow plucking, let alone the more hush-hush procedures like Botox.
However, these days just like the ladies, men want to look and feel great, and rightly so. Part of this includes smelling good too, and we’re not talking Old Spice. This year’s best cologne for men releases look set to continue bringing in the dollars for the big hitters in the fragrance industry.
Let’s have a look at the new ranges on offer.
1. Eau de Nuit by Giorgio Armani
The epitome of masculinity, Giorgio Armani has long been one of the top perfumes for men. This year’s new release, Eau de Nuit, has sensual hints of spice and cedar, with a touch of citrus to lift.
Sexy, dark and soon to be very popular, this after shave comes in an equally masculine, black bottle – nothing fancy, but then you don’t need fancy bottles with fragrances that smell this good.
2. Le Male by John Paul Gaultier
Gaultier’s range continues to grow, and favourite Le Male looks set to continue selling big bucks. Quite a lightweight fragrance, this is perfect for those that don’t like their cologne to be overpowering, yet subtle and ‘just right’. The iconic, blue, male torso bottle tops off the package.
3. Bentley for Men

Yes, they make cars, but they also create great smelling colognes too. Multi-talented indeed! Dripping in masculinity, the Bentley range has light touches of black pepper, cinnamon and musky leather, meaning it smells as manly as its cars feel.
Simple, silver and amber packaging finishes off this classy ensemble. ‘Coming in April 2013‘ .
4. Dior Homme – Christian Dior
If you haven’t heard of Dior’s Homme range, where have you been? Hugely famous, this range continues to grow, and with the re-launch of Dior Homme, with a slight twist, this looks set to be one of 2013’s big sellers.
A masculine, but fruity aroma, Dior Homme has hints of manly bergamot, white musk and citrus, to give it a lighter smell. Delicious.
5. Gentlemen Only by Givenchy
Another beauty world big hitter – Givenchy. The slight downside to this eau de toilette in my opinion is the bottle. Yes, it’s a drop in the ocean, it’s meant to be all about the fragrance, this I know, but I like a good looking bottle, and this is a tad disappointing.
The cologne itself however, is top notch. My obsession with the bottle is because to me, it looks a little like a bottle of chamomile lotion, but once you get over how it looks, the smell is worth it. Hints of mystical mandarin, birch and nutmeg, this is a spicy, masculine fragrance that looks set to continue in Givenchy’s best-selling fashion.
Male and female perfume is big business, and with celebrity ranges coming thick and fast. This includes One Direction’s debut after shave later this year, this is one part of the beauty industry that looks set to continue growing this year and into the next.
What’s your fav smell in a bottle?? – Keep it on topic!!!
